Here is some information from Rob regarding this Workshop::
“I had the rare privilege of learning from the late Milton Erickson MD, and have been teaching my version of what I learnt from him over the last 35 years in Australia, Scandinavia, Asia and USA.
Over the last 40 years, I continue to be astonished and delighted at the benefits of including The Ericksonian approach to psychotherapy, to help clients to move more respectfully and rapidly towards their own unique solutions. As therapists, we can have the double satisfaction of being part of their progression, and also having our practice expand as a result.
Erickson’s comments “Just do good work” and “Observe, observe, and observe” as crucial to doing good work are inspiring and an invitation to explore what “good work” is, and also how to “observe, observe, and observe”.
This workshop will address the practicalities of how we can learn and move towards these.
Scott Miller’s work on excellence in therapy and other fields has highlighted the crucial importance of “deliberate practice”. He points out that a virtuoso violinist will practice up to 100 times the amount of a merely adequate player. The question remains “Deliberately practice WHAT?”
In this workshop we will explore specifically what intentional practice will be relevant to each individual participant to transform their results towards excellence or what Scott refers to as “supershrinks”.
We will explore some key areas of relevant learning including the art of listening, the restoring of genuine trust, creating expectancy, accessing resources, and self care – all of which will generate solid confidence through learning practical competences.
These areas will be essential for any therapist or coach, of whatever school or approach, since they are more than promises of the newest fad in therapy, but perennial skills which have pervaded all effective therapies down through history and will be supported by specific areas of observation and practice leading to the embodiment of the learning, not merely a theoretical understanding.”
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. The cut off date for registration will be 31st August.

Do you have a topic you would like to present at a workshop?
We are always looking for speakers for our workshops. If you would like to present at an AHA workshop, please contact the Workshop Coordinator in the appropriate state. You will find contact details on the AHA contacts page. One of our workshop organisers will then get in touch with you to discuss possibilities.
The Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association came about by a small group of clinical hypnotherapists who had already been practicing for a number of years and who came together because they were determined to set high ethical and professional standards for the hypnotherapy profession in Australia. They searched each other out to support each other and share their knowledge. That happened in 1949 and AHA members have been continuing this practice of sharing their knowledge ever since….
