• Supervision sessions are to be attended each month. 24 points of supervision are required by all members.

• Graduate – 9 monthly individual one-on-one sessions are required with the other 3 sessions being able to be done in group if a qualified supervisor is present

• Professional - 6 individual one-on-one sessions are required with the other 6 sessions being able to be done in group if a qualified supervisor is present.  

  • Clinical -   3 one-on-one Supervision sessions (6 points). The remaining 18 points of supervision may be made up of:   
                                    One on one supervision
                                    Group/peer supervision
                                    A mixture of both models 

• Advanced clinical members - 3 one-on-one Supervision sessions (6 points) each year. The remaining 18 points of supervision may be made up of:   

                                              One on one supervision
                                              Group/peer supervision
                                              A mixture of both models 

Clarification on the 24 points  - One-on-one sessions equate to 2 points per hour. Group sessions (3 - 7 people) equates to 1 point per hour. Most peer support groups will run for 2 hours or more to allow all participants time to engage.  To obtain 24 points per year members would achieve 2 points per month, either One-on-one sessions or group session.

Supervision may be carried out online and therefore you are not confined to a supervisor in your own state.  The AHA recommends speaking with several supervisors so that you can find the right fit for you on all levels.

Recording details of your supervision

Please note that all supervision records are to show the date/duration/type of supervision (individual, group or peer) and signed by your supervisor/peer group leader or participant (not yourself).  A signed letter from your supervisor will also be accepted providing it contains the above information.  An email will also be accepted as long as the email from the supervisor includes the above information and is forwarded intact to the AHA Administration team showing who it came from and on what date.
