Meet the President
Hello, my name is Danielle Aitken.
I am the President of the Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association and I'd like to welcome you to this website, and if you are new to the AHA, I would also like to welcome you to the Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association; The oldest, largest and most respected Association for Clinical Hypnotherapists in Australia.
I have worked in healthcare for 40 years in various capacities from nursing to midwifery and then specialising in the infertility sector, where I spent 20 years working amongst a team of World leaders at the cutting edge of I.V.F. It was during this time that I decided I needed more tools to help my patients survive the journey of infertility, which was often an incredibly difficult one. This period of time, combined with the desire to further assist my patients, became the catalyst which also triggered my own journey into mind body therapy. When I started working with mind body therapy not only did I help my clients, but I also transformed my own life as well.
I am now so passionate about the work that we do as Clinical Hypnotherapists, and about what is actually possible when the might and true potential of mind and body come together in powerful ways to create change.
I am incredibly proud to be the President of the Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association, fondly referred to as the AHA, which has been representing hypnotherapists in Australia since 1949.
Our early members were the pioneers of hypnotherapy in Australia.
From our inception our aims were to provide a unifying self-regulatory role for the profession of hypnotherapy and to support the members by supplying opportunities for, supervision and continuing education, whilst advancing the knowledge, science, and practice of hypnotherapy.
The Association began by becoming an independent register of hypnotherapists which set the highest of standards for its members. The AHA now proudly continues this legacy and remains the largest leading independent registration body for Clinical Hypnotherapists in Australia.
We continue to provide leadership in the field of hypnotherapy to practicing Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists throughout Australia, and to promote and advance the hypnotherapy profession whilst supporting our members in many innovative ways including the many membership programs that are now available.
Our Graduate Program has been set up to support our newest therapists during their first or second year of practice, helping these therapists navigate the new territory that they find themselves in whilst providing a supportive, resourceful and networking environment in which to learn.
Our Peer Group: ‘The World’s Biggest Member meetup Group’ lends itself to conversation and an opportunity for therapists to discuss ideas, techniques, and different therapeutic approaches.
Clinical Peer Meetup group: Where clinical members can get together each month to facilitate open and helpful therapeutic discussion. This group provides a platform for learning, enabled by the sharing of peer resources and experiences also creates the opportunity for new peer group supervision opportunities.
Our Supervisor Meet-Up Group allows supervisors from across Australia to come together several times a year to form friendships and to engage in constructive collegial conversation.
I would encourage all members to get involved with these programmes.
You can find more information about the AHA, our history, and our many programmes and benefits in the current AHA prospectus and on this website.
Our Association is a friendly, inclusive one, which encourages and provides opportunities for many interactions with our members. We make a point of responding to all member feedback, and we do our very best to facilitate all useful membership requests.
I look forward to many more productive interactions with you and all the members in the future.
Kind Regards
Danielle Aitken
President AHA
