Hypnotherapy for Irritable bowel syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS, is a disorder that affects the digestive system.
IBS symptoms can include abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, diarrhoea, and constipation. It is a chronic condition that can be frustrating and debilitating.
IBS is thought to be caused by a combination of factors, including genetic predisposition, gut bacteria, and stress. IBS is more common in women than men, and it often begins in young adulthood. IBS can be a difficult condition to manage, however there are treatments that can help.
If you think you may have IBS, it’s important to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis. IBS can be tricky to diagnose because its symptoms can mimic those of other conditions, such as Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, and ulcerative colitis. Once IBS is diagnosed, your Hypnotherapist can work with you to create a therapy plan.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to IBS, however hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for many people affected with this condition. Hypnotherapy can help you learn to control your response to stress and anxiety, which can trigger IBS symptoms. It may also help you change your relationship with food and eating, which can also play a role in IBS.
If you’re interested in trying hypnotherapy for IBS, it’s important to work with a qualified professional. Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for IBS when it’s done by a qualified hypnotherapist.
If you’re looking for a hypnotherapist in Australia, the Australian Hypnotherapists Association directory lists therapists who specialise in the area of Gut related Hypnotherapy.
Research studies have shown that hypnotherapy can be an effective treatment for IBS. In a study of 118 people with IBS, researchers found that those who received hypnotherapy had significantly less IBS symptoms than those who didn’t receive hypnotherapy.
Another study of 66 people with IBS found that those who received hypnotherapy had a significant reduction in IBS symptoms and an improvement in quality of life.
A meta analysis on IBS and Hypnotherapy has been done which included data from 5 studies with a total of 290 participants. The meta analysis showed that there is evidence for the efficacy of hypnotherapy in IBS.
If you are suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, hypnotherapy for IBS may be a treatment worth considering. Speak to your doctor about whether hypnotherapy is right for you.
